The Big Sur Charter School designs and implements academically challenging programs that meet the individual learning needs of each student.
Engaging families and local community organizations as partners in learning through place-based education, we promote creativity, understanding, and action in the arts and environment.
- Parents are Partners in Learning
- The Community is our Classroom
- Nature is our Teacher
- We are all Artists
Charter schools, often led by parents and creative educators, are making innovative changes to public education. The Big Sur Charter School is proud to be a part of this effort to reinvent learning for the 21st Century. As a “non-classroom” based school, we believe children can learn at home, in their communities, and in nature. Our teachers work with parents to create personalized learning programs for each student. Our community learning partners provide place-based arts and environmental education. Through service projects our students develop relationships with nature and the local community.
